UTD Names Second CoreNet North Texas Scholarship Recipient
Mahir Modgil, a senior at the University of Texas at Dallas, has been selected as the 2016 recipient of the CoreNet North Texas UTD Scholarship.
Mahir is a Finance major, with a concentration in Real Estate, and a pre-law student. He is vice president of Pi Kappa Phi fraternity at UTD. He also serves on JSOM's Dean's Council, which is the council that serves Dean Hasan Pirkul of the Jindal School of Management. He previously served as a paralegal intern at Ahluwalia Law Offices, and currently interns in the finance department at Sigma Surveillance.
Mahir plans to attend law school in the Fall, and work as a real estate attorney by 2020.
"I cannot express what it means to me to not only have been considered for this scholarship, but to also have been selected to receive it," said Mahir. "This scholarship will help me enroll in a high-quality preparatory course for Law School Admissions Test (LSAT), and will therefore help me gain admission to a law school."
CoreNet North Texas established the CoreNet North Texas Scholarship/Fellowship for the UTD Real Estate Program in 2014 by committing $50,000 over five years, which the university matches. The Chapter raises the funds annually through proceeds of the CoreNet North Texas Golf Experience. Mahir is the second recipient of a scholarship from CoreNet.
